>> The Speech Out:

The speech Synthesis on a personal robot that will interact with people is very important. The quality of the synthesis and the naturalness of the speech has be to very high.
To generate Speech there are two steps and for that we
have choosen two important partners in this domain:

a) TXT > PHO
LAIP in Lausanne (UNIL) has developed the program that converts text to phonemes.
[contact: Eric Keller]

b) PHO > SOUND
MBROLA has been developed to generate the sound through the soundcard from phoneme files.
[contact: Olivier Deroo]

The UNIL (University of lausanne) developped SpeechMill: a Program that can translate txt to a phonemes list with pitch modifications, pauses, intonation in a very good quality in French and Geman.

Developper@ASL:
- Mathieu Meisser [dll programming]

Other contact:
- Eric Keller - LAIP-UNIL [Speechmill: txt2pho converter in D and F]
- Olivier Deroo - Babeltech(B) [MBROLA: pho2sound converter]

Babeltechnologies (in Belgium) is working on all kind of Voice Engineering software (Speech Recognition,Speech Synthesis, ...) MBROLA is a very powerful system to convert phonemes to synthetised sound in more than 20 languages.
